I undertook a unit that introduced pathophysiology, focusing on the study of disease processes and the predominant disorders affecting Australians across the lifespan. The unit specifically addressed those disorders identified by the National Health Priority Areas as significant contributors to disability and death in Australia. Building on my foundational knowledge of the normal structure and function of the human body developed in Anatomy and Physiology for Health Professionals, this unit equipped me with an understanding of diseases. This knowledge was crucial for my preparation in subsequent health assessment and nursing practice within the Integrated Nursing Practice units.
